My Journey to Christ

So February 2011 I got this diagnosis of incurable, terminal cancer. When most people hear the word cancer they automatically think it’s a death sentence. I do have to admit it is a huge wake up call. It is a:

As they say keep doing what’re doing and you’ll keep getting what you have already gotten.

In my journey I knew I wanted to go to a healing prayer group. I searched and searched on the internet. I could not find anything local.

One evening I went down in my bedroom, and I poured out my heart to God. I prayed, I talked to God, I cried and I was washed over with a peace. Later my Pastor told me that was the Holy Ghost.

Two weeks later I get a card in the mail from one of my former co-workers. By this time I am heavy into treatment and was waiting to go on social security disability. I was no longer working.

The card I got told me of a local church that had healing prayer groups. The person who sent the card had met a man who had West Nile virus and was cured at this church. She told me she had never been to it, but she gave me the number and said I might give them a call. It would be worth a try, I had nothing to lose.

An answered prayer…

Low and behold I called the church. The Pastor answered and I proceeded to tell him of my diagnosis. I told him of the card I received and that’s how I got his number. He said yes indeed tuesday noon and tuesday evening I could come for prayer. He then said before we humg up let me pray for you. Right then and there on the phopne he prayed for me. And he then said please feel free to attend any of our services, you are invited to anything the cdhurch offers.

Tuesday night my husband and I went and got unnointed with oil, laying on of hands, and prayer. After that we attended Sunday morning. My husband and I were hooked. That wasw April 2011. I have grown and learned so much through the years. This was my first experience at a non denominational bible based church.

It had loud music, lots of African students, open hearts, open hands, teaching from the bible, and no preaching. The services are engaging, keep you listening and learning.

Do you remember in the beginning I said I was diagnosed with cancer? At this point I was no longer working. Randomly through the next year the usher would say and anonymous person wanted me to give this to you. It would be $20, $40, $50. I got a gift card with $100 my first Christmas attending this church.

It brought tears to my eyes. It always came at a time when I had no gas, and no money to get to my appointments. I no longer receive gifts like that, but I also no longer need it. When the need was there, so was the money.

The bible says in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
